HostsMan is a handy utility that allows you to manage and edit your hosts file in a simple way. The hosts file is an important system file that mainly allows you to match IP addresses with host names, and to allow/deny access from/to certain hosts. Although this is a standard text file that could be edited with any text editor, it’s very advisable that you use a tool like HostsMan to edit it, especially to avoid mistakes that could damage such an important file.
HostsMan editor allows you to add entries to your host file easily – you simply need to provide an IP address, the corresponding host name, and, optionally, a comment. Removing an entry is even easier, you just need to select it and click on the "Delete" button. The program is even capable of detecting possible hijacks for you, i.e. unauthorized entries added by malicious programs. HostsMan includes a backup manager capable of creating automatic backups of your hosts file, so that you can go back to a previous version very easily, in case something goes wrong after you edit the file.
Another outstanding feature of HostsMan is the hosts file updater. It allows you to add automatic secure entries to your hosts file from a series of trustworthy servers. You can select one or more servers to get the updates from. These servers provide up-to-date information about malicious hosts, so that you can keep your system protected from them automatically through your hosts file, thanks to this updater feature. more
